Giampa Among Hobey Baker Award Nominees

ST. PAUL, Minn.— Miami junior forward Matteo Giampa is one of the nominees for this year's Hobey Baker Award, given annually to the most outstanding player in college hockey. This marks the third-straight season that Giampa, who played for Canisius University from 2023-25, has been nominated for the award. 87 total players from 48 different NCAA Division I institutions are up for this year's honor.
The Virgil, Ontario native owns nine goals and 10 assists (9-10-19) in 20 appearances this season for the RedHawks with five multi-point outings. He is tied for fourth in the nation with four game-winning goals. Giampa tallied two goals in his Miami debut, including the game-winner, and then collected three assists in a victory at RPI the next weekend. Giampa netted the game-winning goal in overtime in a 6-5 victory over St. Cloud State on Nov. 22, and scored two goals, including the game-winner, in the championship game of the Friendship Four.

The 2026 Hobey Baker Award winner will be announced from a field of three Hobey Hat Trick finalists on Friday, April 10, 2026 during the NCAA Frozen Four Championship in Las Vegas, NV.
