XAVIER TOURNAMENT: The Red and White head to the Xavier Tournament this weekend, Sept. 5-6. Miami will begin the tournament against Xavier at 6 p.m. on Friday. The RedHawks start off Saturday by taking on Eastern Kentucky at 11 a.m. and then close out the tournament with an afternoon match versus IU Indy at 4:30 p.m.
ABOUT XAVIER: Xavier is coming off a season where it posted a 10-18 mark and went 8-10 in the Big East Conference. The Musketeers are currently 3-0 after taking down Tennessee Tech (25-19, 25-18, 25-16), Austin Peay (25-19, 11-25, 25-21, 25-20) and Murray State (25-17, 28-30, 25-11, 25-10) at the Stacheville Challenge. Xavier was picked to finish seventh in the 2025 Big East Preseason Volleyball Poll. Redshirt freshman middle blocker Margo Kemp was named the 2024 Big East Co-Freshman of the Year and also earned a spot on the 2025 Preseason All-Big East Team. Miami leads the all-time series 19-5. The RedHawks and Musketeers last faced off on Sept. 20, 2024, as Miami won 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-19) at the NKU Invitational.
ABOUT EASTERN KENTUCKY: Eastern Kentucky totaled a 21-10 record and went 11-5 in the Atlantic Sun Conference last season. The Colonels are currently 2-1 after defeating Mercer (25-19, 25-16, 25-17) and Charleston (25-16, 20-25, 25-21, 25-12) at the College of Charleston Classic. Eastern Kentucky was selected to finish third in the 2025 ASUN Preseason Volleyball Poll. Senior middle blocker Carson Ledford was named to the Preseason All-ASUN Team. Miami has the advantage in the all-time series, 13-5. The RedHawks and Colonels last battled on Sept. 2, 2023, as Miami fell 0-3 (21-25, 21-25, 17-25) in Oxford.Â
ABOUT IU INDY: IU Indy went 15-17 and held a 9-9 record in the Horizon League in 2024. The Jaguars are currently 3-0 after defeating The Citadel (25-16, 25-23, 25-13), Charleston Southern (25-20, 25-22, 25-20) and Loyola Maryland (25-19, 26-24, 25-16) at the Charleston Southern Tournament. IU Indy was chosen to finish fifth in the 2025 Horizon League Preseason Volleyball Poll. Junior setter Grace Purichia and senior middle blocker Morgan Ostrowski were named to the Horizon League All-League First Team in 2024. The Red and White are 4-3 when taking on the Jaguars. The last time Miami and IU Indy competed was on Sept. 2, 2017, as Miami secured a 3-2 victory (22-25, 25-20, 25-16, 16-25, 21-19) in Indianapolis.Â

UP NEXT: The Red and White return home to host the Miami/Best Western Invitational on Sept. 12-13 where they will take on Middle Tennessee, Southern Indiana and Duquesne.
OHIO STATE RECAP: The Miami University volleyball team fell just short to Ohio State in five sets (25-15, 25-27, 27-25, 25-27, 3-15) at Millett Hall on Wednesday night.
Gentry Warrick produced a career-high 12 total blocks and moved to seventh in career solo blocks (63) for the RedHawks.
Lindsay Kahren recorded 16 digs to lead the Red and White (tied for most digs of the match).
Grace Kreutz saw her first action as a RedHawk. The announced attendance of 2,550 set a Millett Hall record for volleyball.Â
FRESHMEN IMPACT: Freshmen
Molly Creech and
Lauren Coyne have seen significant action at the start of the 2025 season. As a starter, Creech has recorded 2.36 kills per set (third on the team), 0.43 service aces per set (first on the team), 0.43 blocks per set and 0.21 assists per set. Coyne has put down 2.50 kills per set (second on the team), 1.00 blocks per set (second on the team) and has also added 0.50 digs per set over the first four matches.Â
WARRICK WATCH:
• Career blocks per set: 0.94 (eighth all-time in Miami history)
• Career solo blocks: 60 (tied for eighth all-time in Miami history)
• Warrick currently ranks third in the nation in total blocks (29) and ninth in blocks per set (2.07)

EUROPEAN TRIP: This summer the RedHawks had the opportunity to go on a European tour (from late May into early June), visiting Milan, Bologna and Venice in Italy before traveling to Athens and Nafplio in Greece. The Miami group (including players, coaches and staff) enjoyed plenty of opportunities for sightseeing and sampling the local cuisine, while the Red and White also got to play four competitive matches against local professional teams.
