OXFORD, Ohio— Three members of the 2025-26 Miami University hockey team spent time this month in development camps with NHL teams. Matteo Drobac participated in the Predators' camp in Nashville, Matteo Giampa attended the Flyers' camp in Voorhees, N.J. and Casper Nassen took part in the Bruins' camp in Brighton, Mass.
Drobac, a goaltender from Oakville, Ontario, will be in his first season with the Red and White in 2025-26. He produced a 14-11-0 record for the University of Western Ontario in 2024-25 with a 2.68 GAA and .906 save percentage and was named to the U Sports OUA West All-Rookie Team last season.
Giampa, a forward from Virgil, Ontario, joined the RedHawks this offseason after leading Canisius in scoring each of the past two seasons. An assistant captain with the Griffins in 2024-25, the two-time Hobey Baker nominee has put up 65 points in his collegiate career so far (26-39-65) and has previously been named AHA Rookie of the Month (twice) and AHA Player of the Month.
Nassen, a forward from Norrtalje, Sweden, played all 34 games for Miami during his freshman season. Nassen produced 10 points (6-4-10) for the RedHawks, including a game-winning goal against Lindenwood last October, and scored a team-high four power-play goals. Nassen is a 2023 seventh-round draft pick of the Boston Bruins.
Miami opens the 2025-26 season on Friday, Oct. 3 against Ferris State at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena in Oxford.
