RedHawks Split Doubleheader With Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Miami University softball team split a doubleheader versus Central Michigan on Saturday afternoon. Miami captured game one, 3-2, but dropped an 8-2 decision in the second contest. The loss ended Miami's win streak at 10 games and dropped the RedHawks to 22-16 overall and 12-1 in MAC play. CMU sits at 16-16, 8-3 MAC.

Miami and Central Michigan will compete in the rubber match on Sunday, April 6. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
How it Happened (Game One):
- Central Michigan grabbed a 1-0 lead with a two-out double in the fourth inning.
- The Chippewas threatened to break the game open in the fifth. With runners on second and third with one out, CMU singled to left field to make it 2-0, but Kaylee Oh's throw to home plate beat the CMU runner to save a run.
- Oh recorded a one-out double in the bottom of the fifth and after Jenna Golembiewski was hit by a pitch, Chloe Parks singled down the left field line to plate Oh. Mckenna Campbell walked to load the bases and Erin Pinter doubled to right center to spot the RedHawks a 3-2 lead after five innings of play.
- Madilyn Reeves did the rest to preserve the 3-2 victory. She allowed just four hits, while striking out three in seven innings of action.
Game Notes (Game One):
- Miami had eight hits, compared to just four for CMU.
- Kaylee Oh, Erin Pinter and Danitza Hernandez each had two hits.
How it Happened (Game Two):
- Miami loaded the bases in the first inning, but came away scoreless.
- CMU had the bases load with one out in the second inning, but Parks threw home on a ground ball for the second out and moments later caught a line drive to end the inning.
- The Chippewas claimed a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the fourth inning, without recording a hit.
- Hernandez responded with a solo shot to straight away centerfield to cut the deficit in half.
- CMU answered with a three-run home run in the top of the fifth for a 5-1 advantage and made it 8-1 with three more runs in the sixth.
- Hernandez hit her second home run of the game, solo shot to right field, in the seventh.
Game Notes (Game Two):
- For the second time this season Hernandez hit multiple home runs in a game. She also posted two home runs back on Feb. 28 versus North Dakota State.
