
RedHawks Take Two From BGSU, Move to First in MAC Standings

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Miami moved into first place in the Mid-American Conference standings Friday, taking both games of a doubleheader against the second place Bowling Green Falcons, 5-2 and 7-4. In game one, both David Novak and Dillon Baker each hit a two-run home run. In game two, the RedHawks put together a go-ahead five-run seventh inning to help secure their victory. Miami moves to 17-13 (12-2 MAC) with the wins while Bowling Green falls to 20-9 (14-4 MAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1):
- The first score of the game happened in the bottom of the fourth as Bowling Green took a 1-0 lead on a solo home run to left field.
- The RedHawks tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fifth. Ryan Novak walked and Tommy Harrison hit a single to move Novak to second. Blake Buzzeo took an HBP to load the bases, and a sac fly by Dillon Baker brought Novak around to score.
- Miami struck again in the top of the sixth, scoring two via a home run ball by David Novak. This marked Novak's ninth home run of the season and gave Miami a 3-1 lead.
- Another two-run blast added insurance for the RedHawks in the top of the ninth, making it a 5-3 game. This time, the homer came from Dillon Baker, his seventh of the year, after Blake Buzzeo had singled.
- The Falcons loaded the bases with three straight walks in the bottom of the ninth, but only managed to score one run on a single, rounding out a 5-2 RedHawk victory.
MIAMI GAME NOTES (GAME ONE):
- Baker went 1-for-3 with three RBIs and one run.
- Ty Batusich went 2-for-5.
- Anthony Zarlingo had three walks and a run.
- Ryan Novak went 1-for-1 with three walks and one run.
- Cooper Katskee pitched the game's first 5.1 innings, giving up just five hits and one run and improving his record to 6-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2):
- The RedHawks recorded the game's first run in the top of the second. Dillon Baker led off the inning with a single and advanced to second as Ty Batusich reached on an error. Anthony Zarlingo walked to load the bases and Dominic Krupinski walked to force in a run for a 1-0 lead.
- Patrick Mastrian pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the fourth, sending down two Falcons on groundouts and one on strikes.
- The first earned run of the game came in the top of the fifth with two outs. David Novak hit an infield single and Krupinski walked, setting up Ryan Novak to hit an RBI single that put Miami up 2-0.
- Bowling Green flipped the script in the bottom of the fifth, scoring three runs on two hits and two HBPs to take a 3-2 lead.
- The RedHawks answered with a five-run rally in the top of the seventh, going through their entire batting order. David Novak reached first on an error with two outs and Krupinski walked to move him to second. Ryan Novak juiced the bases with a walk and Harrison singled, scoring two. Blake Buzzeo took an HBP to reload the bases and a wild pitch brought Ryan Novak home. Dillon Baker capped off the rally with a two-RBI single that made the score 7-3.
- The Falcons scored one run in the seventh after managing two hits.
- Landon Fulk came in to pitch the final two innings of the game, striking out four Falcons and earning his third save of the season.

- David Novak went 2-for-5 with two runs.
- Krupinski went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run.
- Fulk pitched 2.0 innings, giving up just one walk and striking out four.
