Falcons Edge Out RedHawks with 10th-Inning Walk-off

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The RedHawks' attempt to sweep Bowling Green was cut short Sunday as the Falcons hit a walk-off single to win 7-6 in extras. Seven different RedHawks recorded hits during the contest, including Blake Buzzeo, who went 2-for-4 and batted in two runs. Miami falls to 17-14 (12-3 MAC) with the loss while Bowling Green improves to 21-9 (11-4 MAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Miami put three runs on the board in the top of the second. Ryan Novak singled and advanced to second on an error. Tommy Harrison walked and a wild pitch put both runners in scoring position. Buzzeo delivered a two-RBI single to make it 2-0 and Dillon Baker doubled down the left foul line to make it 3-0 in favor of Miami.
Bowling Green hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the third to pull within one run at 3-2.
The Falcons tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth, scoring one run after a walk and a double.
Two hits gave Bowling Green their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fifth, 4-3.
Miami reclaimed the lead in the top of the sixth. Ryan Novak hit a leadoff single and advanced on an error as Dominic Krupinski reached first base on a fielder's choice. Buzzeo walked to load the bases, and a wild pitch tied the game at 4-4. Baker managed a sac fly to send Krupinski home to take a 5-4 RedHawk lead.
The RedHawks added one to their lead in the top of the seventh after Evan Appelwick walked and David Novak hit an RBI double to right field. This made it 6-4.
Bowling Green answered with two runs in the bottom of the seventh, capitalizing on a single and a double to tie the game at 6-6.
The game remained tied through the ninth inning. Carson Byers went three up, three down in the bottom of the ninth to send the game to extras.
With two outs in the bottom of the tenth, Bowling Green delivered a walk-off single to end Miami's hopes of a sweep and seal a 7-6 Falcon victory.
