OXFORD, Ohio – The RedHawks were downed by Kent State Saturday, 13-4, after they let up 13 hits and made three errors. Anthony Zarlingo was the only RedHawk with multiple hits, going 2-for-4. The RedHawks fall to 18-16 (13-4 MAC) with the loss while the Golden Flashes move to 21-12 (11-3 MAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The first run of the game came on an RBI double for Kent State in the top of the third. The Flashes jumped out to a 2-0 lead as an RBI single sent the baserunner home to score.
Dom Krupisnki led off the bottom of the third with a single and Keenan Proctor took an HBP. Blake Buzzeo came up with a sac bunt to put both runners in scoring position, and Dillon Baker drove in Miami's first run with an infield single to make it 2-1.
Ty Batusich walked and Anthony Zarlingo hit a sac fly to send Keenan Proctor in to tie the game at two runs apiece through three innings.
Kent State retook the lead in the top of the fourth, scoring four runs on four hits to make it 6-4. One of the runs was forced in by an HBP.
The Flashes added an unearned run in the top of the sixth for a 7-2 lead.
The RedHawks managed to cut the deficit to four runs in the bottom of the sixth, scoring one run on a fielder's choice.
Three hits and an error scored three runs for Kent State in the top of the seventh, all unearned, pulling them ahead 10-3.
Dillon Baker walked and Ty Batusich singled in the bottom of the seventh. Evan Appelwick singled to score one run, but Miami left two on base on the next at-bat and couldn't keep their rally alive.
Miami turned a double play in the top of the eighth to stay within six runs of the Flashes.
The RedHawks let KSU's lead grow to 13-4 in the top of the ninth, giving up three runs on two hits, two walks and two HBPs.
Two RedHawks reached the bases in the bottom of the ninth, but Miami was unable to score.
