Charleston, S.C. – Miami recorded its second loss of the season Tuesday in a 9-5 battle against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers. Blake Buzzeo went 2-for-3 during the contest, earning two RBIs and a home run. Miami falls to 2-2 while CSU moves to 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Dillon Baker started up Miami's offense in the first with a single to left field. Evan Appelwick crushed a homer to left center to put the RedHawks ahead 2-0.
The Buccaneers struck back in the second, starting with a walk by Nathan Martinez, then stole second. Lucas Pringle walked, and a single by Blake Edgmon loaded the bases. Joe Sanguedolce hit a bases-clearing double to make it a 3-2 ballgame in favor of CSU.
Kaden Smith kept the Bucs' rally going with an RBI single that made the score 4-2.
Buzzeo led off the third for Miami with a home run to left center that pulled Miami within one (4-3).
After two quick outs in the bottom of the fifth, CSU's Martinez homered to left to put the Bucs up 5-3.
Anthony Zarlingo led off the sixth inning for the RedHawks with a walk and a stolen bag. Buzzeo singled to left to bring Zarlingo home and cut the deficit to one (5-4).
Ryan Novak led off the top of the eighth with a walk and advanced twice due to a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch. Buzzeo walked, and Ty Batusich was safe at first after a fielder's choice that scored Novak and tied the game at five runs each (5-5).
Sanguedolce walked in the bottom of the eighth and advanced to second on a single by Smith. A single by Chandler Tuupo loaded the bases.
AJ Martin hit a grand slam over the centerfield wall to put CSU ahead by four and seal a 9-5 victory for the Bucs.

MIAMI GAME NOTES:

Batusich went 2-for-5 with one RBI
Appelwick went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run
Buzzeo went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run.
Hayden Cuthbertson made his Miami debut and pitched 2.1 innings, during which he allowed no walks and just two hits and struck out four.

UP NEXT:
The RedHawks stay down south and travel to Johnson City, Tenn. for a three-game slate against East Tennessee State on Feb. 21-23. Game one is set for 3 p.m. on Friday.
