ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team looks for its third-straight win on Sunday, Dec. 7 versus Western Kentucky. Opening tip is slated for 1 p.m.
DOUBLE TROUBLE: Amber Tretter has recorded a double-double in three straight games and has 24 double-doubles in her career. This season she is a walking double-double in points (12.7) and rebounds (10.4) and is on pace to become just the second RedHawk in program history to record 1,000 career rebounds. She has also scored 757 points in her career, which ranks 50th in program history.
BALANCED SCORING: Miami has four players averaging double-digits in scoring, led by Amber Scalia (14.1 ppg.) She is joined by Amber Tretter (12.7 ppg.), Tamar Singer (11.8 ppg.) and Ilse de Vries (10.9 ppg.).
BY THE MARGINS: Miami currently is second in the MAC in scoring (74.4) and third in defense (59.8), which results in a 14.7 point margin of victory, third-best in the conference. The RedHawks also lead the MAC in field goal percentage (.458), three-pointers made (77) and turnover margin (5.3).
CINCINNATI RECAP: Miami erased a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime on the way to a 75-71 win over Cincinnati. Tamar Singer had a career-high 24 points, Amber Tretter added 21 and Amber Scalia chipped in with 14 to help the RedHawks improve to 6-3 on the year. Tretter's 12-foot fade-away jumper as time expired sent the game to overtime as the RedHawks went on to score 18 points in the extra session. The win was Miami's first over Cincinnati since 2018.
ABOUT WESTERN KENTUCKY:Â Offensively, Torri James leads the way at 9.2 ppg and WKU has five different players average at least 8.1 ppg. The Lady Toppers are 3-5 on the year and are coming off a 47-44 loss to Florida Atlantic.
CRADLE OF COACHES JERSEY: Miami will debut new Cradle of Coaches themed uniforms on Sunday. The jerseys feature distinct branding elements that pay tribute to the storied heritage of Miami Athletics as well as the Cradle of Coaches. The gold accents pay homage to the gold standard of coaching exemplified by Miami coaches, past, present, and future across all sports, while the color black is used to symbolize the tradition, strength, history and prestige of Miami's Cradle of Coaches.Â
SERIES HISTORY: Miami is 0-8 all-time versus Western Kentucky, which includes last season's 79-60 loss in Bowling Green, Ky. Miami is 0-4 all-time versus WKU at home.
HOME SWEET HOME: Miami competes at home for the first time since Nov. 13 and is coming off a five-game road stretch where they captured three wins. In its final 22 regular season games, the RedHawks will be at home 12 times.
LONG RANGE BOMBERS: Miami ranks 26th nationally at 8.6 three-pointers per game. The RedHawks have made double-digit three-pointers in four of nine games this season, including 13 at Purdue, 12 against Marist and Coastal Carolina and 10 against Bellarmine.
THINGS CHANGE QUICKLY: The RedHawks rank 39th nationally in assist/turnover ratio (1.21 per game). This season the RedHawks have 159 assists compared to 134 turnovers. Last season Miami had 409 assists and 534 turnovers and in Coach Box's first year the RedHawks posted 336 assists and 547 turnovers.
NEW FACES, NEW PLACES: Miami has eight new players this season, which includes five transfers, two freshmen and a red-shirt freshman. Joining the RedHawks via the portal include Amber Scalia (St. Thomas), Clara Gonzalez Planella (Jacksonville State), Macie Taylor (Wright State), Ashton Elley (UAB), and Brooke Blumenfeld (NIU). Coach Box also added two freshmen (Mio Sakano and Anna Hurst) and Emily VanTimmeren, who technically joined the RedHawks last December, has yet to see action with the Red and White.
NEW, BUT NOT YOUNG: Despite eight new players on the roster, the RedHawks feature an experienced squad. Overall, the 12 players have combined to play in 568 games and make 286 starts. They have also combined to score in double figures 149 times.Â
SINGING HER PRAISES: Tamar Singer, one of the best freshman in the MAC a year ago, has taken her game to another level in 2025-26. Last season she averaged 6.3 points and 4.2 assists per game while running the point. This year she is averaging 11.8 points and 6.9 assists, which ranks eighth nationally. She has surpassed 20 points twice this season (none last year) and has led the team in scoring four times in 2025-26 (once all of last year).
PASSING RECORDS: Tamar Singer posted a career-high 12 assists versus Indiana Southeast to become the first RedHawk to secure double-digit assists in a game since Maddi Cluse did so back on Dec. 16, 2022. Her 12 dimes are the third-most by a RedHawk in Millett Hall history, behind Courtney Osborn and D'Nelle Seiple, who had 13 apiece. After not recording a single double-digit assist game as a freshman, Singer has two this season (added 11 assists versus Purdue).
DE VRIES PLAYS OVERSEAS: This summer, sophomore Ilse de Vries represented the Netherlands as a member of the U20 National Team at the annual FIBA U20 EuroBasket League. In seven games, she averaged 11.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest. This season de Vries is averaging career bests in points, rebounds and assists.
101 AND COUNTING: Amber Scalia will be competing in her 101st career game on Sunday. Prior to joining the RedHawks, Scalia played in 91 games over three years at St. Thomas, where she scored 1,091 points and shot 34% from long distance. She has scored 1,232 points in 100 career games.
CHANDLER RETURNS: Head Coach Glenn Box may have a new assistant coach this year, but she is not new to the program. Maya Chandler, who played for the RedHawks last season, is in her first year as an assistant coach. Last season, Chandler averaged 11.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest.
