OXFORD, Ohio— Miami Hockey head coach Anthony Noreen announced today that freshman goaltender Shika Gadzhiev will no longer be part of the RedHawks' program this season. Miami and Gadzhiev have actively worked for many months to try and get the Dagestan, Russia native cleared by the NCAA for competition, but despite those efforts, he currently remains ineligible for Division I hockey. Gadzhiev will pursue an opportunity in the sport where he can play immediately.
The RedHawks continue conference play Friday, Dec. 12 at 7:05 p.m. to begin a home series against No. 19 Colorado College.
