10/29/2025 3:23:00 PM | Hockey
Miami Hockey takes a perfect 6-0-0 record into conference play, hosting Arizona State this weekend for an NCHC series. The RedHawks defeated Lindenwood 5-4 in overtime on back-to-back nights last week, with Ilia Morozov netting the game-winner Friday and Ryan Smith doing the honors Saturday. Off to its best start since 2007-08, Miami is receiving votes in both national polls and owns its first six-game winning streak since the 2011-12 season. (RV/NA) Arizona State comes in at 2-4-0 after dropping 4-2 and 5-2 decisions at Augustana last weekend.
This week's games at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena are set for Friday, Oct. 31 at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 1 at 6:05 p.m. The contests will air on Rock Entertainment Sports Network (live Friday and tape-delayed Saturday) and NCHC.tv, with Greg Waddell and Drew Davis on the call.
The line of Kocha Delic (5-4-9), Morozov (4-5-9) and Matteo Giampa (3-6-9) has made a massive offensive impact through six games for Miami, sharing the team point lead. Delic tops the RedHawks in goals, while Vladislav Lukashevich (1-7-8) has a team-high seven assists. Smith was named NCHC Forward of the Week with a four-point game (including a hat trick and an overtime game-winner) in Miami's most recent contests. Miami averages 4.8 goals per game, the second-highest output in the country (Michigan). Matteo Drobac has played every minute in net for the Red and White and is a perfect 6-0-0 between the pipes (2.64 GAA, .913 save %).
Smith and head coach Anthony Noreen met with the media this week to preview the games against the Sun Devils.
