HOW IT HAPPENED
- 12:38 1st (Miami 1-0) | For the sixth game in a row (dating to last season), the RedHawks grabbed the game's opening goal. Vladislav Lukashevich sent a diagonal pass across from near the Miami bench to Justin Stupka at the offensive blue line to start the play. Stupka then drove forward and centered the puck to Doug Grimes in front for a chance. Grimes wasn't able to connect on his first attempt but stuck with the play and buried his follow-up shot to make it 1-0 in favor of the Red and White.
- 19:54 1st (Lindenwood 1-1) | The hosts evened the score on a power-play goal with only a handful of seconds remaining in the first period. A Jake Southgate one-timer led to Jaeden Mercier skating through and knocking the puck out to Giovanni Morneau, who finished off the rebound.
- 10:11 2nd (Lindenwood 2-1) | Southgate gave the Lions the lead near the midway point of the second period, as Ethan Elias forced a Miami turnover in the neutral zone and then found Southgate trailing the play for a quick shot and score.
- 13:59 2nd (Lindenwood 3-1) | The home team doubled its advantage less than four minutes later, as Morneau collected his second power-play goal of the night. With Drobac screened by a Lion in front, Nolan Seed took a long shot from the top of the zone that deflected away for Morneau to finish. Jacob Fletcher was credited with the secondary assist.
- 18:37 2nd (Miami 3-2) | Miami responded later in the period with a key penalty kill that set up the RedHawks' second goal of the game. As the Lions' power play was expiring, Shaun McEwen sprung Kocha Delic on a breakaway with a perfect pass ahead and Delic beat Lindenwood netminder Klayton Knapp to pull the visitors within 3-2.
- 19:45 2nd (Miami 3-3) | 68 seconds later, Miami found an equalizer. An Ethan Hay faceoff win in the offensive zone sent the puck to Ryan Smith, and Smith promptly worked his way to the net and deposited a close-range shot past Knapp to pull the RedHawks level at 3-3.
- 7:22 3rd (Lindenwood 4-3) | Lindenwood struck again on the power play to take a 4-3 lead in the third period. Fletcher managed to convert the go-ahead shot off assists from Southgate and Seed.
- 16:22 3rd (Miami 4-4) | Maximilion Helgeson, who played for Lindenwood in the 2021-22 season, scored with 3:38 left in regulation to erase the Lions' late lead and make it 4-4. McEwen started the sequence with a hustle play in the center of the rink and ended up dishing out the secondary assist to Stupka, who teed up Helgeson for a one-timer blast.
- 0:35 OT (Miami 5-4) | Miami controlled possession in the extra session, leading to Morozov's game-winner. The freshman center took the puck from the center line after Vladislav Lukashevich initially retrieved a Matteo Giampa rebound and then skated the rest of the way past a Lindenwood defender to finish a backhand past Knapp.
