ATHENS, Ohio— The Miami University volleyball team (9-10, 3-4 MAC) was downed in a four-set match (16-25, 27-25, 17-25, 17-25) to Ohio (5-14, 3-4 MAC) on Saturday at the Convocation Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Molly Creech delivered a kill, while Gentry Warrick and Lauren Coyne combined for a block to give Miami a 4-1 lead early in the first set. The Bobcats tied the score at 5-5 and later took a 12-8 advantage. Kills from Lindy Radaszewski and Chelsea Williams helped Miami stay close at 14-11, but the Bobcats pulled ahead 18-11. Ohio secured the first set 25-16.
A kill and service ace from Warrick gave the RedHawks a 2-0 lead in the second set. Ohio led 9-6 before two Bobcat errors and another Warrick kill cut the lead to 10-9. Miami stayed close at 17-16, but Ohio scored three straight to make it 20-16. The RedHawks responded by outscoring Ohio 6-2 and tying the set at 22-22. Ohio looked to close out the set at 24-22 when massive kills from Kreutz and Creech helped seal a 27-25 second-set win.
Down 9-5, Kamryn Utley served an ace and Raegan Lantz landed a kill to bring Miami within 9-8. Trailing 18-12, a Creech kill and Bobcat errors narrowed the gap to 19-15. Late kills from Warrick gave the RedHawks hope, but Ohio secured the third set 25-17.
The Bobcats came out strong in the fourth set, as they jumped out to a 9-2 advantage. Three kills from Williams gave the RedHawks life by cutting into Ohio's lead at 13-9. The Bobcats stretched their lead to 17-10 and managed to fend off the RedHawks' attack, winning the fourth set 25-17.

NOTES:

Grace Kreutz led the RedHawks with a career-high eight kills.
