Miami Takes Second at Highland Meadows Intercollegiate

SYLVANIA, Ohio— Miami Golf took second place out of 11 teams this Monday and Tuesday at the Highland Meadows Intercollegiate. Four Miami team members and two additional RedHawks placed in the top 20 out of more than 75 participants. Captain Danny Fisher led the Red and White with a three-round score of seven under par and Matthew Mattioli put an exclamation point on Miami's third-round performance with a hole-in-one, Miami's first of the season.

The RedHawks will travel to Columbus, Ohio this Friday, April 19 to begin the annual three-day, three-round Robert Kepler Invitational at Ohio State University.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Fisher (68-67-71–206) finished in third place as an individual after shooting par or lower in all three rounds. He excelled most in round two, where he finished with a 67, or four below par. During round three, Fisher made 14 pars and two birdies to finish even with par.
- Mattioli (72-70-69–211) finished two below par in the final round to tie for 12th place individually. His three-round score was also two below par and included a hole-in-one on a par-three hole 11 during the final round.
- Michael Weber (75-70-68–212) shot three below par in round three to bring his three-round score down to even par. Weber tied for 18th place individually.
- Brett Podobinski (73-69-71–213) also tied for 18th overall. His final round included an eagle on the par-five hole nine to score even with par both in the round and overall.
- Cameron Pero (74-77-76–227) finished 14 over par through three rounds and shot five above par in round three.
- Sam West (71-67-72–210), who competed as an individual, finished three below par through three rounds to make the top 10, tying for seventh overall. West made nine total birdies and an eagle.
- Evan DiSanto (73-70-70–211), who also competed as an individual, finished tied for 18th after shooting one below par during the final round to cap off a three-round even score. He made five birdies during round three.
- Miami's team score is 10 below par after shooting five below par as a team during round three.They finished nine strokes behind champion Minnesota and four strokes ahead of third-place Indian Hills CC.
