OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University hockey team dropped a hard-fought battle to No. 18/18 Omaha on Saturday night by a score of 2-1. Artur Turansky scored the only goal for Miami, while Logan Neaton made 23 saves in net after missing the previous 11 games due to injury.

The RedHawks fall to 7-22-3 on the season (1-19-2 NCHC). The Mavericks move to 18-10-4 (11-8-3 NCHC).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

2:12 2nd (Miami 1-0) | After a scoreless first period, the RedHawks jumped on top early in the second. Albin Nilsson sent a pass to Axel Kumlin at the blue line, and Turansky was in the right place to tip home Kumlin's blast and give Miami a 1-0 lead.
7:18 2nd (Omaha 1-1) | The Mavericks capitalized on a 5-on-3 power play to tie the game at 1-1. Griffin Ludtke sent a one-timer to the back of the net from the middle of the UNO offensive zone off assists from Matt Miller and Tanner Ludtke.
14:05 2nd (Omaha 2-1) | Omaha scored on another power play to take its first lead of the game at 2-1, as Miller retrieved the puck behind the net and connected with Jack Randl directly in front of the crease. Griffin Ludtke also earned an assist on Randl's goal.

GAME NOTES:

Neaton returned to action for the first time since suffering a lower-body injury on Jan. 13.
Jack Clement moved into fourth place on the program's all-time list for games played with his 162nd career appearance.
Miami honored seven seniors before the game: Robby Drazner, PJ Fletcher, Nilsson, Thomas Daskas, Hampus Rydqvist, Dylan Moulton and Matthew Barbolini.
Kumlin's assist was his 10th point of the season.
Turansky, who lit the lamp for the first time since his two-goal game on Oct. 13, 2023, was named the Third Star.
The RedHawks blocked 13 shots, led by Clement's four.
Omaha was 2-for-4 on the power play, while Miami was 0-of-1 with the man advantage.

The RedHawks travel to Western Michigan next weekend (March 8-9) to conclude the regular season. Puck drop on Friday, March 8 is set for 7 p.m. in Kalamazoo, Mich.
