The Miami University hockey team concludes its regular season with a trip to No. 15/14 Western Michigan. The RedHawks are 7-22-3 (1-19-2 NCHC) after a pair of one-goal losses to then-No. 18 Omaha last weekend. The Broncos (18-13-1, 9-13-0 NCHC) have dropped three straight games, including 5-3 and 3-0 defeats at then-No. 3 North Dakota last Friday/Saturday.
This weekend's games are set for Friday, March 8 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 9 at 6 p.m. inside Lawson Ice Arena in Kalamazoo, Mich. The games will stream on NCHC.tv, with Greg Waddell's radio broadcast available on WKBV 1490 AM (Richmond, Ind.).
WMU leads the all-time series 82-71-13, but Miami snapped a string of 11 consecutive losses against the Broncos with a 4-3 triumph on January 13 in Oxford. The RedHawks are looking for their first victory in Kalamazoo since Jan. 3, 2021.
Matthew Barbolini (11-14-25) leads the RedHawks in points and assists this season. The senior forward shares the team lead in goals with PJ Fletcher (11-12-23). Graduate student goaltender Logan Neaton is 6-11-2 in net and owns a 3.01 GAA and .902 save percentage in 19 starts. Freshman netminder Bruno Bruveris is 1-11-1 between the pipes, with an .873 save percentage and 3.90 GAA.
John Waldron and head coach Chris Bergeron met with the media this week to preview the matchup against the Broncos.
