RedHawks Defeat Golden Grizzlies 8-6

Oxford, Ohio— Miami baseball took down Oakland University 8-6 Saturday with home runs from both Ty Batusich and David Novak. Right hander Peyton Olejnik was credited with the win for the game and Lukas Galdoni with the save.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Zach MacDonald fired up Miami's offense with a single into right field during the first inning. Ryan Novak then managed to turn a shallow hit to right field into a double and MacDonald managed to take three more bases, sliding into home plate to put Miami on the board.
  • David Novak continued Miami's first inning run with an RBI single to left field that scored Ryan Novak.
  • In the second inning, Batusich hit a single up the middle. MacDonald proceeded to hit his fourth homer of the season more than 400 feet over the center field wall to put to put Miami up 4-0
  • Oakland loaded up the bases with zero outs in the third inning and began to rally back, putting up four runs to tie the ball game.
  • During the fifth, Ryland Zaborowski singled. He then scored on a double by Ryan Novak.
  • David Novak crushed a two-run home run to center field the following at bat to put Miami ahead 7-4 at the end of the fifth.
  • Zaborowski hit an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth which sent MacDonald, who had walked and then advanced on a wild pitch, to home plate. This put the RedHawks ahead 8-4.
  • Oakland scored one run during the eighth and one during the ninth, but their rally was cut short.

  • MacDonald went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs.
  • Ryan Novak went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs.
  • David Novak went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and one run.
  • Zaborowski went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run.
