ATHENS, Ohio— The Miami University men's basketball team dropped to Ohio 78-69 Saturday afternoon.
Anderson Mirambeaux led the RedHawks (11-11, 5-5 MAC) with 16 points, while
Eian Elmer scored 14 and
Bradley Dean added 10. Jaylin Hunter led the Bobcats (12-10, 6-4 MAC) offensively with 22 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A layup from Bryce Bultman and a Reece Potter three from the top of the key gave Miami an early 5-2 lead. The Bobcats evened the score at seven apiece before the RedHawks went on a 12-3 run to claim a 19-10 advantage. A pair of threes from Dean and Mirambeaux helped spark the run.
- The Bobcats responded with a run of their own, as they took a 22-21 lead with 9:25 remaining in the first half. A pair of layups from Mirambeaux and Dean helped Miami stay ahead of the Bobcats at 27-25. The RedHawks went on to enter halftime trailing 39-32.
- Potter scored the opening points of the second half with a jump shot to cut Ohio's lead to 39-34. The Bobcats took their first double-digit lead of the game at 46-36. A hook shot from Elmer and a Darweshi Hunter three cut the margin to 46-41 with 16:06 to play. The Bobcats proceeded to stretch their lead to 52-41. Numerous layups from Mirambeaux and Jaquel Morris brought the RedHawks back within five at 57-52.
- With under eight minutes to play, the Bobcats looked to pull away at 64-52. A collection of free throws and two shots from beyond the arc brought the RedHawks within striking distance once again at 70-64. The Red and White would get no closer, dropping 78-69 to Ohio.
GAME NOTES:
- Elmer recorded the game-high nine rebounds.
- Miami went 10-10 from the free-throw line in the second half.
