OXFORD, Ohio— The Miami University men's basketball team fell to Northern Illinois 62-59 Tuesday Night.
Reece Potter led the Red and White (11-12, 5-6 MAC) with 10 points. Zarique Nutter led the Huskies (8-14, 2-8 MAC) offensively with 22 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A flurry of threes from Bryce Bultman, Eian Elmer and Potter gave the RedHawks a 10-5 advantage at the start. Northern Illinois tied the game at 10 apiece with 14:00 remaining in the first half.
- The Red and White went on to sink three more shots from beyond the arc to take a double-digit lead at 25-15 with 9:03 on the game clock. The RedHawks started the game 6-6 from the three-point line. A pair of layups from Bultman and Jaquel Morris kept Miami ahead 29-21. The RedHawks entered halftime in front 31-30.
- Potter opened the second half with a three to extend the Miami lead to 34-30. The Huskies evened the score at 34 apiece with 17:14 remaining. Numerous layups from Bradley Dean, Elmer and Morris kept Miami ahead 44-42. The Huskies responded by scoring five straight to take a 47-44 lead.
- Northern Illinois looked to pull away at 55-47 with 5:54 to play. Darweshi Hunter and Dean each knocked down a shot from behind the three-point line to come within four at 57-53. Hunter put in yet another three to trail 59-56 with 2:09 on the game clock. Just 12 seconds remained when Anderson Mirambeaux made a couple of free throws to bring the Red and White within one at 60-59. Northern Illinois went on to win the game 62-59.

- Evan Ipsaro recorded a career-high three steals
- Mirambeaux tied the game-high two blocks.

The Miami University men's basketball team will travel to Georgia State on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. as part of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge. The RedHawks previously hosted Texas State in November as part of the Challenge.
