ATLANTA, Ga.— The Miami University men's basketball team lost to Georgia State 73-53 Saturday afternoon.
Darweshi Hunter led Miami (11-13, 5-6 MAC) with 19 points, while
Reece Potter scored eight points and added seven rebounds. Toneari Lane led the Panthers (11-13, 5-7 Sun Belt) offensively with 17 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Mekhi Cooper found Eian Elmer slicing to the basket for the opening points of the game. Not long after, Hunter buried a three to take a 5-2 advantage. Potter put in a hook shot to stay within two of Georgia State at 9-7 with 16:09 on the game clock. The Panthers went on to take a 27-12 lead with just over eight minutes to play in the first half.
- Potter scored a pullup jump shot and a three to bring the RedHawks within striking distance at 27-17. Evan Ipsaro scored a shot from behind the three-point line, and Elmer made back-to-back shots to keep it close at 32-25. The Red and White entered the intermission trailing 35-25.
- Hunter started the second half by hitting a pair of shots from behind the arc to close within four at 35-31. A layup and dunk from Jaquel Morris kept Miami in the fight at 45-39. Georgia State went on to find its rhythm on offense, stretching the score to 64-44 with 7:53 remaining.
- A three, numerous free throws and a putback layup from Hunter made it a 68-52 ball game with just under three minutes to play. The Red and White would get no closer as the Panthers sealed a 73-53 victory.

- Miami recorded 15 offensive rebounds.
- Morris and Potter each led Miami with two blocks.
