DAYTON, Ohio – Enjulina Gonzalez scored a career-best 27 points in Miami's 60-43 win over Dayton on Thursday evening.
Katey Richason added 10 points and nine rebounds to help Miami pick up their first road win of the season and improve to 5-2 on the season. Ivy Wolf led the Flyers with 11 points, who fall to 5-4.
How it Happened:
- Miami opened the contest on a 17-5 run. Ilse DeVries scored five of Miami's first seven points and Enjulina Gonzalez added the other 12, which included a pair of three pointers, forcing a Dayton timeout with 5:15 remaining in the first. Dayton scored following the timeout and Gonzalez scored her 14th point of the quarter with a pull-up jumper. Maya Chandler and Richason added layups to give Miami its biggest lead of the quarter, 23-9. Miami led 23-13 after 10 minutes of play.
- Miami held Dayton scoreless for the first five minutes of the second quarter, pushing their advantage to 25-13. Dayton ended the drought with a bucket, but back-to-back triples from Emily Bratton and Tamar Singer put Miami up 31-15 with two minutes left in the half. The Flyers added three free throws in the final two minutes and Gonzalez converted with 45 second left in the half to spot Miami a 33-18 advantage at the midway point.
- Gonzalez continued her hot shooting, scoring Miami's first four points of the quarter for a 37-18 Miami lead. Dayton answered with a 10-2 run to make it 39-28 midway through the quarter. Gonzalez's third triple of the game ended the UD run and a nifty pass from Singer to Richason made it 44-30 with two minutes left in the third. Miami led 46-30 entering the fourth quarter.
- UD opened the fourth on an 8-4 run to trim the deficit, 50-38, but back-to-back layups from Singer and Gonzalez moved the lead back to 16 points with five minutes left in the contest. Amber Tretter, who battled foul trouble all evening, scored four-straight for the Red and White to give Miami a 20-point lead, 60-40 with two minutes left in the contest.

- Miami shot 44.8% from the field, while the Flyers were 26.4%.
- Enjulina Gonzalez connected on 11 field goals. Dayton had 14 made field goals as a team. She now has 49 points over her past two games.
