OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University men's basketball team (6-3) buried a school-record 22 three-pointers in a 112-70 blowout win over Bethany Sunday afternoon.
Kam Craft scored a career-best 34 points and shot 10-of-16 from the three-point line, tying Jason Stewart (10 vs. Marshall in 2000) for the most made threes in program history.
How it Happened:
- The RedHawks opened the competition with a 5-0 lead thanks to a putback layup from Antwone Woolfolk and a three from Craft. Craft knocked down a pair of triples to put the score at 14-3. Brant Byers joined the three-point barrage, knocking down four triples to stretch Miami's advantage over 20 points at 35-13 with 10 minutes to play in the first half.
- The Red and White scored 15 unanswered points to take its first 30-point lead at 44-13. Mekhi Cooper dished the ball to Reece Potter through the lane for a dunk to make it 51-18. Miami entered the intermission with a 62-28 advantage.
- Peter Suder got the RedHawks going in the second half with a traditional three-point play. With the score at 67-34, Elmer and Craft scored the next 24 points for Miami, giving the RedHawks a 91-51 lead.
- With 5:21 left in the game, Craft tied the program record for most made threes (10). Elmer followed this up by hitting back-to-back shots from behind the arc. The RedHawks did not look back, sealing the game 112-70.
Game Notes:
- The RedHawks knocked down a MAC-record 22 triples on the day and tied for the most by any Division I program this season.
- The Red and White shot over 50% from three for the first time this season.
- Byers set a career-high 21 points (5-of-7 from behind the arc).
- Cooper recorded a career-high five steals.
- Suder set a career high with nine assists.
- Miami had three players score 20 points in a game for the first time since Feb. 23, 2008.
- 112 points is the eighth-highest team total in team history.
- Blake Anderson, Jack Sauer, Ethan Wright and Eli Yofan saw their first action of the season.
