RedHawks Fall in Second Match to NIU

DEKALB, Ill. — The Miami University volleyball team (4-12, 0-4 MAC) fell in a three-set match (25-16, 25-18, 25-21) to Northern Illinois University (5-11, 3-1 MAC) Saturday evening.

The RedHawks are back in action Thursday, Oct. 5 vs. Toledo at Millett Hall. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- At the start of play, Gentry Warrick knocked down back-to-back kills to keep the Red and White within one point at 5-4. A Brooke Jackson kill evened the score at 10 all, but Northern Illinois stayed resilient and answered with an 8-0 run. The Huskies went on to take the first set 25-16.
- The RedHawks trailed 6-2 in the beginning of the second set. Maggie McCrary and Brooke Cirigliano each put down a kill that sparked a 6-2 run to even the match at 8-8. The set remained tied up at 14-14 halfway through the set before the Huskies found their rhythm and finished the set with a 25-18 victory.
- Northern Illinois claimed a 7-3 lead at the start of the third set. Shortly after, freshman Chelsea Williams caught fire and knocked down four kills to tie the match at 13 apiece. Miami tied the score at 20-20 as the end of the set approached. The Huskies closed the set on a 5-1 run to seal the final set 25-21.
- Williams put up the match-high 15 kills (.417 hitting percentage).
- Gracie Norris recorded a career-high two service aces.
