HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first set started off with intense back-and-forth action, as neither team led by more than two points until SIUE went ahead 17-14. Late in the set, Chelsea Williams knocked down back-to-back kills, but the effort wasn't enough as Miami dropped 25-19.
- Miami started the second set with a 2-0 lead after Ellie Hanson put down a kill. Shortly after, SIUE took a 10-6 advantage before a pair of kills from Raegan Lantz brought the RedHawks within two at 11-9. After the Cougars stretched their margin to 20-13, a combination of late kills from Hanson, Lantz and Maggie McCrary kept Miami within striking distance at 23-20. SIUE went on to close the set with a 25-21 win.
- At the start of the third set, Miami used a 5-0 comeback to take an early 6-4 lead. A plethora of SIUE errors and a Williams kill sparked the run for Miami. The set came down to the wire, with each team tied at 19 apiece approaching the end. A service ace from Gentry Warrick, a kill from Raegan Lantz and a kill from Ellie Hanson sealed a 25-21 set win.
- In the fourth and final set, SIUE jumped out to a 5-0 lead and looked to build off of their initial momentum. Miami stayed within striking distance at 10-4 after Brooke Jackson and Williams each put down early kills. The Cougars ultimately found their rhythm and closed the match with a 25-12 victory.
- Taylor Nomanson led all players with 16 digs.
- Williams recorded a career-high four blocks and match-high 14 kills.
