
RedHawks Drop Doubleheader to Siena

OXFORD, Ohio -- The Miami University baseball team dropped a doubleheader against Siena College by the scores of 6-4 and 5-1 Saturday. The RedHawks drop to 1-9 while the Saints improve to 2-9.
Game one was a close fight. After being neck and neck through eight innings, the Saints took the lead in the ninth to propel them to their first win of the season.
In game two, the RedHawks' offense clicked early but wasn't enough to keep possession of the lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Game One
- With one out in the first inning, Zach MacDonald doubled to left field. MacDonald advanced to third on a passed ball. Ryland Zaborowski followed with a walk. With runners on the corners, Zaborowski attempted to steal second. Zaborowski was called out but not before MacDonald scored to put the RedHawks up 1-0 after the first.
- David Novak led off the fifth inning with a double to center field. With one out in the fifth, Benji Brokemond brought Novak in to score with a single to center field. With one on, Zach MacDonald followed up by parking one in left center to take the lead and make it 4-2 RedHawks.
- After a tight race for most of the game, the RedHawks fell just short, with a final score for 6-4 Saints.
Miami Game Notes: Game One
- Zach MacDonald hit his second home run of the year.
- Connor Oliver and Hudson Leach recorded a combined 17 strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Game Two
- Kicking off the offense in the bottom of the third inning, Cooper Weiss singled to third base. Tommy Harrison followed up with a walk. Evan Appelwick reached base with the second walk of the inning to load the bases. Benji Brokemond followed up with a single up the middle to score Weiss and make it 2-1 Saints.
- After six innings of shutout baseball for Siena's pitching, the RedHawks fell to the Saints with a final score of 5-1 Saints.

What's Next:
           The RedHawks play Siena College in the series finale Sunday, March 5. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
