RedHawks Split Doubleheader at Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — The Miami University baseball team split a Mid-American Conference doubleheader against Bowling Green Sunday afternoon, falling 3-12 and winning 6-2. The RedHawks now stand at 5-20, 3-6 MAC, while BGSU holds a record of 8-13, 4-5 MAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME ONE
- The Falcons struck first, commanding a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Bowling Green added another run in the bottom of the third inning to take a 5-0 advantage.
- Bowling Green went on to score two runs in both the fifth and sixth inning to stretch their lead to 9-0. The Red and White went on to put up a three-run seventh inning. Cooper Weiss homered to left center bringing the score to 9-1. Parker Lester was able to score as a result of an error and Nate Stone singled through the right side to bring in Benji Brokemond to trail 9-3.
- Bowling Green brought in three more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and went on to secure a 12-3 win.
- Weiss finished 2-for-4 and recorded a home run.
- Brokemond went 2-for-3 and also stole two bases in a game for the second time in his career.
- Stone went 1-for-1 and drove in a run.
HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME TWO
- Miami scored the opening run of the game to take a 1-0 lead, after Dom Magliocca reached first base on an error and in turn brought home Weiss. The Falcons later responded with a two-run homer in the bottom half of the second inning to take the lead at 2-1.
- The Red and White stayed resilient, David Novak opening the third inning with a double to left field. Brokemond then singled to bring in Novak and even the game at 2-2. Novak continued his hot hitting, smacking a home run to left field at the top of the fifth inning to help Miami retake the lead at 3-2.
- In the top of the seventh inning, Brokemond singled to third base and brought in Weiss to extend their lead to 4-2. Miami took a 5-2 lead after a balk was called; Brokemond advanced to second and Novak brought in a run. The Red and White closed the inning by bringing in another run, after Tommy Harrison singled down the middle to bring Brokemond home. This push was enough to give Miami a 6-2 victory over Bowling Green.
NOTES: GAME TWO
- Novak was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and had a home run.
- Brokemond finished 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run scored and a stolen base.
- Harrison finished 2-for-4 with one RBI.
- Kenten Egbert allowed two earned runs and struck out six hitters.
