Miami Earns 9-3 Victory Over Oakland

ROCHESTER, Mich. — The Miami University baseball team defeated non-conference opponent Oakland University 9-3 on Wednesday afternoon. Miami is now 6-20 (3-6 MAC), while Oakland moves to 8-15 (2-4 Horizon).

The RedHawks continue conference play with a weekend series against Western Michigan beginning on Friday, March 31. First pitch of game one is set for 1 p.m. in Oxford, Ohio.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the top of the first inning, Ryland Zaborowski gave Miami an early 1-0 lead after hitting a home run to right field. Zaborowski continued his hot hitting in the third inning, doubling down right center field to bring two runners home and commanding a 3-0 lead. At the top of the fourth inning, Dom Magliocca hit a double to extend Miami's lead to 4-0.
- The Golden Grizzlies responded by earning two runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning to come within 4-2.
- The Red and White separated themselves from the Golden Grizzlies after Dillon Baker smashed a three-run homer to pull ahead 7-2. Nate Stone hit a two-run homer of his own in the top of the ninth inning to give Miami a 9-2 cushion. Oakland drove in a run in the final inning, but it wasn't enough, as Miami finished with a 9-3 victory.
NOTES
- Zaborowski went 3-for-5 recording a double, a home run and three RBI.
- Baker Finished 1-for-3 with a walk, three RBI and a home run.
- Stone hit 1-for-3 which included two RBI and a home run.
