OXFORD, Ohio— Anderson Mirambeaux scored 24 points and the Miami University men's basketball team used a 19-4 run midway through the second half to defeat Bowling Green 74-65 Tuesday night. Mekhi Lairy put up 13 points and a game-high seven assists for the RedHawks (10-18, 4-11 MAC). The Falcons' season record slips to 10-18, 4-11 MAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The RedHawks got off to a slow start offensively, but used a 9-2 spurt out of the first media timeout to go on top after a three-pointer by Ryan Mabrey. From there, the teams traded baskets for the majority of the half, with neither side leading by more than two until the final three minutes when BGSU inched ahead 23-19. A deep Kamari Williams triple to beat the shot clock immediately brought Miami back within one.
After Mirambeaux scored his eighth point of the half with 1:44 remaining, Bowling Green responded to claim its largest advantage of the period at 29-24. However, Lairy found Mabrey inside for a hoop with five seconds to play to trim the Falcons' lead to a single possession at halftime. Miami held BGSU to 37.9% shooting from the field (11-29) and 27.3% behind the arc (3-11) in the opening 20 minutes.
Miami took the lead for good with 14 minutes to play on a three-pointer by Williams. That shot sparked a game-changing 19-4 run, as Miami grabbed its first double-digit lead (55-44) on a three-pointer by Mirambeaux that beat the shot clock. The RedHawks eventually pushed out to a 59-46 lead after Morgan Safford's steal and layup with just over six minutes remaining.
Bowling Green didn't go away, rallying to get as close as 68-63 at the 1:18 mark. Miami protected its lead by going 9-9 at the foul line after the final media timeout to put the game away and finish off a nine-point victory.

NOTES

Lairy moved into a tie for sixth place all-time in program history with his 187th career three-pointer.
Williams knocked down three shots from behind the arc, his season high.
Jaquel Morris matched his career high with eight points and pulled down a career-high six rebounds.
Miami outrebounded BGSU 34-30, led by Mirambeaux's eight boards.
