RedHawks Drop Series Finale to Georgia Tech, 16-8

ATLANTA, Ga. — The Miami University baseball team dropped Sunday's series finale at Georgia Tech by a final score of 16-8. The RedHawks fall to 0-3, while the Yellow Jackets move their season mark to 3-0.
The RedHawks had a late burst of offense in the ninth inning just to fall short in the end. Among the 13 hits recorded by Miami, Brian Zapp, Dillon Baker and Zach MacDonald each hit home runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED

In the top of the fourth, Zapp hit a solo home run to right center to get the RedHawks on the board, making it 5-1 Yellow Jackets.

In the top of the seventh, Baker added a run by hitting a solo shot to left center, cutting Georgia Tech's lead to 9-2.

The RedHawks started the eighth inning with momentum from the first batter. Benji Brokemond led off the inning by doubling to left field. Stephen Krause came up with a two-out double to score Brokemond, making it 11-3 Yellow Jackets.

Miami kicked off the ninth inning with a single to center field by Evan Appelwick. Baker followed up with a double down the left-field line, advancing Appelwick to third. David Novak hit a double down the right-field line to score Baker and Appelwick. Cristian Tejada joined the doubles party by hitting the third consecutive double of the inning to score Novak.

After a pitching change in the ninth, MacDonald hit one to deep left center for a two-run home run for Miami's final runs of the game, making it 16-8 Yellow Jackets.
