BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— The Miami University baseball team dropped Tuesday night's game 13-5 at Indiana University. Tommy Harrison homered for his first collegiate hit to lead the offense for the RedHawks (0-4). The Hoosiers scored seven runs in the third inning en route to evening their season record at 2-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After Indiana picked up a run in each of the first two innings, Miami got on the board in the top of the third. Harrison belted a solo homer to cut the deficit to 2-1.
IU broke the game open with seven runs in the bottom of the inning, but Miami promptly cut into the lead in the fourth frame. A leadoff Zach MacDonald walk set up five consecutive hits for the RedHawks, including back-to-back doubles from Cooper Weiss and Parker Lester. Weiss' blast off the wall drove in two runs to make it 9-3, with Lester's RBI double then scoring Weiss to pull Miami within 9-4.
The home team added a run in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in the seventh to stretch its lead.
Trailing 13-4, Brian Zapp started the top of the eighth with a double to left field. Following a wild pitch by Indiana pitcher Luke Hayden, Zapp moved to third. Weiss followed with an RBI groundout that enabled Zapp to score the final run of the game.

NOTES

Nick Vardavas made his Miami debut on the mound and struck out four hitters in 2.2 innings.
Weiss finished with three RBI and scored a run.
RedHawk pitchers Connor Preisel and Martin Sosna each threw a scoreless inning in relief.
Harrison, Lester and Zapp all recorded multi-hit games for the Red and White.
