RedHawks Drop Second Game to Georgia Tech, 5-4

ATLANTA, Ga. — The Miami University baseball team dropped game two at Georgia Tech by a final score of 5-4. The RedHawks drop to 0-2 and the Yellow Jackets improve to 2-0.

The RedHawks took an early 1-0 lead before the Yellow Jackets responded with five runs in the fourth inning. Brian Zapp and Ryland Zaborowski hit solo home runs in Miami's effort, while Hudson Leach threw six scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Zapp got the offense going with a bang. He led off the top of the second inning with a home run over right field to make it 1-0 RedHawks.
After a five-run third inning for the Yellow Jackets, Zaborowski kicked off the fourth inning with a solo home run to center field to make it 5-2 Yellow Jackets.
The RedHawks started the ninth inning strong as Zaborowski singled to left field. Following Zaborowski, Brian Zapp reached base via walk and Parker Lester singled up the middle to load the bases. Evan Appelwick reached on a fielder's choice, pushing Zaborowski across home plate. Christian Tejada followed by reaching base by a fielder's choice to score Zapp. After a dramatic ninth, the Redhawks fell just short with a final score of 5-4.

MIAMI GAME NOTES

Leach completed his Miami debut with six innings pitched, allowing one hit, while striking out eight.
Zaborowski hit his third home run in his first two games with the RedHawks.
