RedHawks Play at ULM Saturday Night

The Miami University women's basketball team returns to the court on Saturday, Nov. 11 on the road versus Louisiana at Monroe. Opening tip is slated for 8 p.m. This is the first of two MAC vs. Sun Belt Challenge games. Miami will host a school from the Sun Belt on Feb. 10.
NEW BEGINNINGS: Saturday will be just the second game for head coach Glenn Box. Box was named the 10th head coach in Miami women's basketball history on May 8, 2023.
SEEING DOUBLE: Twin sisters, Jada and Jadyn Scott, transfers from Cincinnati, combined for 16 points and 10 rebounds in their debut for the Red and White against Vermont.
IN WITH THE NEW: Head Coach Glenn Box and his staff brought in eight new players for the 2023-24 campaign. Joining the RedHawks are four transfers and four freshmen, including one from Spain and another from British Columbia.
FRESHMAN IMPACT: In her first career collegiate game, freshman Amber Tretter played 26 minutes, recording 10 points and three rebounds. She was tops on the team with two offensive rebounds and five free throw attempts (made four).
ABOUT LOUISIANA AT MONROE: Louisiana at Monroe is 0-1 on the season after dropping an 81-76 decision at Arkansas to open the year. Jakayla Johnson had 34 points and seven rebounds versus the Razorbacks and Daisha Bradford recorded 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
SERIES WITH ULM: Saturday will be the first meeting between the two schools.
VERMONT RECAP: Senior Jada Scott had 11 points and freshman Amber Tretter chipped in with 10, but the Miami University women's basketball team dropped a 60-48 decision to Vermont to open the 2023-24 season. Miami trailed 39-34 with 1:37 remaining in the third quarter before a 7-0 Vermont run to start the final quarter put the game out of reach.
KEEPING IT CLEAN: Despite the loss, Miami committed just 13 turnovers and allowed only six offensive rebounds in the contest. Last season, Miami had less than 13 turnovers just 10 times and allowed more than six offensive rebounds in 25 of 31 contests a year ago.
FIRST OF MANY: Eight different RedHawks saw action in their first career game as a RedHawk (Jada Scott, Hennessey Luu-Brown, Jadyn Scott, Maddy Huhn, Amber Tretter, Lakresha Edwards, Núria Jurjo and Cori Lard) versus Vermont. Huhn made her first career collegiate start.
NEW IMPACT: Miami's newcomers dominated the box score on Monday in points (39 of 48/82%), rebounds (21 of 22/96%), field goals (40 of 45/89%) and minutes played (174 of 200/87%). Newcomer Jada Scott led the team in points (11) and rebounds (6), while Jadyn Scott was tops with two assists and freshman Amber Tretter led the team in field goal attempts (9) and free throws (4-of-5).
WHAT RETURNS: With the roster transition from a year ago, Miami's top returning scorer is Katey Richason (3.9), followed by Clare Chambers (2.1), Riley Neal (1.7) and Jessie Dai (0.9). In all, Miami returns just 8.6 points (12.2%) and 6.0 rebounds (16.8%) from a year ago. Jordan Tuff, who missed last season with an ACL injury, is expected back this season as well.
