Softball Captures Two on Wednesday Versus Falcons

OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami softball team finished off their series against Bowling Green with back-to-back wins Wednesday afternoon. The first game saw the RedHawks dominate at the plate and in the field from the opening pitch. Brianna Pratt stepped into the circle and put together a perfect game performance, completely stifling the Falcons' offense. With seven runs scored in the opening three innings by the RedHawks, the game ended in a 9-0 run-rule victory for Miami. In the second game, Holly Blaska's home run in the bottom of the seventh, gave Miami a 1-0 victory.

How it Happened (Game 1):

Pratt got the start for Miami in the first game. The junior pitched a perfect game, striking out eight batters through five innings in the circle.
Karli Spaid put together a complete performance on offense, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and a stolen base.
The RedHawks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning courtesy of a two-run home run from Blaska.
Miami added four more runs to their total in the bottom of the second. The four-point swing included a Spaid three-run home run to left-center field.
The final blow came from an Allie Cummins two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth, ending the game in a 9-0 run-rule victory for Miami.

Notes:

Blaska and Cummins both finished 2-for-3 from the plate with an RBI.

How it Happened (Game 2):

Pratt kicked things off again in the circle for the RedHawks. In her second start of the day, the junior struck out seven Bowling Green batters while allowing just two hits through 5.1 innings.
Courtney Vierstra came in to relieve Pratt in the top of the sixth inning. Vierstra allowed no hits in 1.2 innings while striking out four batters.
Both teams failed to generate any kind of offense throught the contest, as just four hits were recorded between both teams.
Blaska recorded the only run in the contest with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh.
