KALAMAZOO, Mich.-- The Miami University baseball team picked up a 14-4 win at Western Michigan in seven innings Friday afternoon. The RedHawks improved to 13-19 (9-11 MAC), while the Broncos dropped to 9-20 (6-9 MAC).
Jonathan Brand continued what has been a dominant season, fanning eight Broncos over six innings. Brand improved to 6-1 with the win, allowing one or fewer earned runs for the eighth time in nine starts.

Freshman
Zach MacDonald led the way at the plate, belting a pair of three-run home runs to center field.
Benji Brokemond went 2-for-3 with a double, a steal, two RBI, and two runs scored.
Cole Andrews finished 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and three RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The RedHawks took a 4-0 lead in the top of the second inning. After a Brian Zapp double and William Escala walk, Tyler Wardwell drove in Zapp for the first run of the game with an RBI single. Escala came around to score on an RBI double from Nick Neibauer. Andrews capped the scoring with a two-run single to left.
- In the top of the third, Zapp homered to right field, extending the RedHawk lead to five.
- In the top of the fourth, Brokemond led off with a walk, then stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error. Andrews then doubled, driving in Brokemond. Stephen Krause singled and stole second, with MacDonald eventually hitting a three-run homer to put Miami on top 9-0.
- In the top of the sixth, Brokemond singled, then Andrews walked. With two runners on, MacDonald then hit his second home run of the game, extending the Miami lead to 12-0.
- In the top of the seventh, leading 12-1, Woolwine doubled to right-center, followed by a Neibauer walk. Brokemond then doubled to right-center, driving in Woolwine and Neibauer, putting the 'Hawks up 14-1.

- Brand threw six innings, allowing one earned run while striking out eight Broncos.
- Zapp went 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs scored, and a double.
- Wardwell went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
- With six RBI, MacDonald doubled his previous single-game career high of three.
