Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Miami Falls at Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio— The Miami University men's basketball team dropped a non-conference game at the University of Cincinnati Wednesday night by a score of 103-76. Mekhi Lairy led the RedHawks (4-6) with 20 points. Anderson Mirambeaux had 16 points and a game-high seven rebounds. Morgan Safford added 14 points. David DeJulius had 22 points and Landers Nolley II had 20 for the Bearcats (7-4).

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Early three-pointers from Ryan Mabrey and Lairy helped Miami keep pace early, as the RedHawks were within 10-8 after five minutes of action. Kamari Williams drained a triple for his first points of the season to trim Cincinnati's lead to 17-13 at the 11:35 mark.
  • The Bearcats used a 12-2 run to open up a double-digit margin before back-to-back threes by Safford. Miami continued to battle, forcing a Cincinnati timeout with 2:37 to play in the period after two straight buckets by Mirambeaux. The hosts responded with six consecutive points and took a 50-33 lead to the locker room.
  • Billy Smith converted layups on back-to-back possessions early in the second half, but the Bearcats stretched their lead over the next five minutes with a 17-6 spurt. Smith continued his solid second half with a backdoor cut for a layup and a reverse layup off a baseline drive on the following trip to make it 80-51.
  • After UC took its largest lead of the game at 93-58, Jaquel Morris threw down an impressive one-handed dunk at the other end of the floor to spark an 18-7 run for the Red and White down the stretch before Cincinnati's C.J. Anthony closed the scoring with a three-pointer in the final minute.

NOTES
  • Williams had nine points and three assists for the RedHawks in his season debut.
  • Miami out-rebounded Cincinnati 26-24.
  • The RedHawks were 19-21 from the foul line (90.5%).
