RedHawks Host Field Hockey MAC Championships This Weekend

On Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5, the Mid-American Conference Field Hockey Championship will be held on the campus of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The first game on Friday will be no. 1 seed Miami facing no. 4 seed Ball State University at 11:30 a.m. The second game will start at approximately 2:30 p.m. and will feature no. 2 seed Kent State University against the no. 3 seed Appalachian State University. The championship contest will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.
  
Ticket Prices
For a single day ticket, the price is $7 for adults and $5 for children (12 and under). All MAC students can attend the event for free using their school-issued student ID. All ticket sales are cashless and only major credit cards will be accepted.
 
Video Stream
If unable to attend the games in person, there are other ways to follow along. Live stats will be available throughout each game on Miami's website and MAC's website. There will also be a livestream of all three events. Announcing the games will be Randy Hollowell, Makenna Colby '18, a MAC Tournament MVP in 2017 and Shannon Regan '15, who is a three-time MAC Champion that stared in the first MAC championship tournament for Miami.

Parking
There is limited parking available directly behind the field hockey field and additional parking located at Millett Hall, a short walk away from the field hockey field. Accessible parking is available beside the field hockey field. All parking is free.
 
Tournament Breakdown
No. 1 Seed Miami
The Miami RedHawks were 6-1 in MAC competition this season and 11-7 overall. The team faced only one loss with a deficit of more than one goal as season long. In the MAC, Claudia Negrete Garcia (87) and Paula Peña Martinez (66) are 1-2 in the MAC in shots this season. Negrete Garcia is also the RedHawks' leading scorer with 13 goals.
 
No. 2 Seed Kent State
The Kent State Golden Flashes were 6-1 in MAC competition and 8-9 overall. KSU's lone conference loss came earlier this year at Miami. The Golden Flashes had 106 penalty corners on the season while allowing just 77. Patricia Strunk leads the Flashes with seven goals this season and has 38 shots.
 
No. 3 Seed App State
The App State Mountaineers were 5-2 in MAC competition and 13-5 overall. The Mountaineers averaged 14.5 shots per game and allowed 8.9 on average. Carli Ciocco led the MAC with 12 assists and Friederike Stegen was tops on the team with 12 goals
 
 
No. 4 Seed Ball State
The Ball State Cardinals finished the 2022 campaign 4-3 in MAC competition and 7-11 overall. They played in four overtime games and won three of them. The Cardinals leading scorer is Fleur Knopert with nine goals. She also leads the team in points with 23 and assists with five.
