10/19/2022 2:55:00 PM | Hockey
Miami Hockey returns to action this week for a non-conference series at Canisius. The RedHawks (2-1-1) were off last weekend and split a two-game set at then-No. 15 UMass Lowell Oct. 7-8. The Golden Griffins (2-3-0) just finished a span of three games in five days, including a 3-2 win in their home opener Tuesday night over previously unbeaten RPI.
Both games in Buffalo will be available on FLOHockey.tv, with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22. Audio broadcasts of the game, with Greg Waddell on the call, will come from MiamiRedHawks.com Friday and WKBV 1490 AM (Richmond, Ind.) Saturday.
Miami leads the all-time series 6-0-0 and has outscored the Golden Griffins 31-5 in those games. The teams last met in November 2013 for a pair of games in Oxford; Miami has never faced Canisius in Buffalo.
Joe Cassetti (3-2-5) and Max Dukovac (1-4-5) currently share the RedHawks' team scoring lead with five points apiece. Matthew Barbolini (2-2-4) and Red Savage (1-3-4) are also averaging a point per game. Goaltender Ludvig Persson is 2-1-1 between the pipes with a .938 save percentage and 1.98 GAA in four starts and has already earned a pair of NCHC Goaltender of the Week honors this season.
Miami head coach Chris Bergeron and senior forward Ryan Savage met with the media this week to preview the series against the Golden Griffins.
