Baseball Falls in Series Finale with Chippewas

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The Miami University baseball team fell, 3-1, in the series finale with the Central Michigan Chippewas on Sunday afternoon. The RedHawks drop to 19-19 (12-12 Mid-American Conference), while Central Michigan improves to 28-11 (20-4 MAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Central Michigan took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning before adding an insurance run in the fourth.
- In the top of the fifth, down 3-0, the RedHawks got a pair of runners on base. Following a sacrifice bunt, freshman Jacob Hensor drove home sophomore Brian Zapp, cutting the Chippewas lead to two.
MIAMI GAME NOTES:
- Sophomore Kenten Egbert threw three shutout innings out of the bullpen, striking out three batters while allowing just one hit.
- Junior Tyler Bosma threw five innings, allowing just two earned runs while striking out six batters.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The RedHawks face off against the Bowling Green Falcons in a mid-week showdown on Tuesday, May 4. The first pitch will be 3:05 p.m. at Steller Field in Bowling Green, Ohio.
