Falcons Hand RedHawks 7-1 Loss

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — The Miami University baseball team suffered a 7-1 loss to Bowling Green State University on Tuesday afternoon at Steller Field. The Falcons out-hit the RedHawks 8-6 and were propelled by a four-run inning in the seventh. After an early 3-0 lead in the conference matchup, the Falcons held on to their lead to secure the victory in the first game of the series. The RedHawks fall to 19-20 (12-13 Mid-American Conference) while the Falcons improve to 13-22 (11-14 MAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the sixth inning, Benji Brokemond was walked and then advanced to third on a single by Will Vogelgesang. Cole Andrews singled, driving in Brokemond and cutting the Falcon lead to two, 3-1.
MIAMI GAME NOTES:
- Vogelgesang went 3-for-3 on the afternoon, which included a double while also earning a walk.
- Five pitchers saw action on the mound for Miami as Lawson Blackmore earned his second start on the season. Michael Spinozzi pitched 2.1 innings in relief, while Kevin Napoleon, Jacob Webb, and Logan Schmitt made up the rest of the game.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The RedHawks travel to Ohio University for a four-game weekend series beginning on Friday, May 7. The first pitch on Friday is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Chessa Field.
