
Baseball Falls in Series Finale with Golden Flashes

OXFORD, Ohio — Despite taking an early 2-0 lead, the Miami University baseball team fell 6-3 against the Kent State Golden Flashes on Sunday afternoon at McKie Field. With the loss, the RedHawks fall to 19-15 (12-8 Mid-American Conference), while the Golden Flashes improve to 17-18 (10-10 MAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the bottom of the third inning, the RedHawks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead off the strength of an RBI single by redshirt freshman Nate Stone, which scored graduate student Will Vogelgesang.
- In the bottom of the fourth, sophomore Brian Zapp led off with a solo home run, putting the RedHawks up 2-0.
GAME NOTES:
- Senior Parker Massman had a pitch-hit triple and scored in the bottom of the ninth.
- Freshman Dalton Back went 2-for-5 on the day.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The RedHawks will face off next weekend against the Central Michigan Chippewas. The first pitch will be 3 p.m. at Keilitz Field in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
