Miami to Face BGSU Friday in MAC Tourney Semifinal

FRIDAY'S MATCH: Winning its last five matches of the regular season to earn a spot in the four-team Mid-American Conference Tournament, Miami makes its fifth-straight appearance in the MAC semifinals and sixth in the last seven years. The No. 4 seed RedHawks take on the No. 1 seed Bowling Green Falcons at 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 2 in Bowling Green, Ohio.

ABOUT BOWLING GREEN: Bowling Green enters the weekend with a 20-1 record with its lone loss in five sets against Toledo. Katelyn Meyer leads the team with 3.79 kps, while Hanna Laube averages a team-leading 11.40 aps. Julia Walz averages 4.63 dps, while Katie Kidwell averages 1.13 bps.

THE SERIES WITH THE FALCONS: Friday marks the 87th meeting between Miami and Bowling Green with the RedHawks holding a 52-34 lead in the all-time series. When playing in Bowling Green, Miami is 19-17. The RedHawks have lost the last three meetings with BGSU, including two earlier this season, all coming in the Stroh Center. The last time the teams met in the MAC Tournament, Miami captured a 3-1 win in the 2016 MAC Tourney semifinals. 

TELEVISION: All MAC Tournament matches will be aired on ESPN+.

UP NEXT: The winner of Friday's Miami vs. Bowling Green semifinal will face the winner of the Ohio vs. Western Michigan semifinal in Saturday's championship match at 5 p.m.

WOJICK EARNS ALL-MAC HONORS: Senior outside hitter Sarah Wojick was named to the All-MAC Second Team. Wojick paces the team at 2.89 kills per set with a .293 hitting percentage and owns a team-leading 271.5 points on the season.

ROARING 20s: For the first times this season, Miami had players reach or eclipse 20 kills in a match. On Friday, March 26 at Central Michigan, senior Sarah Wojick amassed a career-high 22 kills, while senior Avarie Powell recorded a career-high 20 kills. The following night, junior Gaby Harper hammered out a career-high 23 kills against the Chippewas. Harper's 23 kills are the most by a RedHawk in any match this season.

HUSER RECORDS 1,000th CAREER DIG: Senior Abigail Huser became the 17th member of Miami's 1,000 dig club on Thursday, March 4 at Kent State. Huser needed 13 digs entering the contest and hit the mark early in the third set. She has 1,228 entering Miami's next match to rank seventh on the list. 

REDHAWKS AMONG MAC LEADERS:
SEAMAN CLIMBS ASSIST LIST: Senior Morgan Seaman moved into sixth on Miami's career assist chart and has 2,913 entering MU's next match. She has played in 114 career matches. 

ECLIPSING 750 CAREER WINS: With a 3-0 win versus Buffalo on Jan. 22, Miami head coach Carolyn Condit posted her 750th career win. Condit owns a 762-564 career record in her 41st season as a head coach. Condit's 762 total victories are tied for eighth among active NCAA Division I coaches, and tied for 24th all-time. Owning more victories than any coach in the history of the Miami Athletic Department, Condit holds a 663-487 record in her 37th season in charge of the Red and White. Condit is the only volleyball coach in the history of the Mid-American Conference to win over 300 league matches, holding a conference mark of 366-216.

  • Senior Morgan Seaman has recorded nine assist/dig double-doubles this season, the last coming against Eastern Michigan on March 26 with 57 assists and 17 digs.

Sophomore Allyson Severance has recorded four service aces three times: versus Buffalo on Jan. 23, at Northern Illinois on Feb. 25 and versus Eastern Michigan on March 20. Senior Morgan Seaman also served up four aces at Akron on Jan. 29.
