RedHawks Host BSU Tuesday in Final Home Match

TUESDAY'S MATCH: The Miami University volleyball team rounds out a three-match homestand when the RedHawks host Ball State on Tuesday, March 23 at 7 p.m. in their final home match of the season. 

ABOUT BALL STATE: The Cardinals enter the weekend with an 8-10 recorded and are coming off a split at Central Michigan last weekend. Kia Holder leads the team with 3.25 kps, while Esther Grusser average 7.21 aps. Maggie Huber averages 4.40 dps, while Lauren Gilliland averages 1.16 bps and Marie Plitt averages 1.03 bps. 

THE SERIES WITH THE CARDINALS: Tuesday marks the 82nd meeting between Miami and Ball State with the Cardinals holding a 43-38 edge in the series. When playing in Oxford, Miami is 18-15 against the BSU. Ball State has won the last two meetings, including a three-set decision a week ago on March 16 in Muncie. Miami's last win in the series was on Oct. 25, 2019 in Muncie, 3-0. The RedHawks have won the last five meetings with the Cardinals in Millett Hall, including a 3-2 win on Nov. 17, 2018. BSU's last win in Oxford was on Oct. 22, 2010, 3-0. 

TELEVISION: Tuesday's match will be aired on ESPN3. Steve Baker and Lisa Dankovich will call the action.

UP NEXT: The RedHawks head to Central Michigan for a 6 p.m. match on Friday, March 26 and 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 27 to round out the regular season.

HUSER RECORDS 1,000th CAREER DIG: Senior Abigail Huser became the 17th member of Miami's 1,000 dig club on Thursday, March 4 at Kent State. Huser needed 13 digs entering the contest and hit the mark early in the third set. She has 1,151 entering Miami's next match to rank 12th on the list. She is three away from moving into 11th place and four from 10th place on the all-time list.

SEAMAN CLIMBS ASSIST LIST: Senior Morgan Seaman moved into seventh on Miami's career assist chart and has 2,751 entering MU's next match. She has played in 111 career matches, playing in her 100th career match on Feb. 18 against Western Michigan. 

ECLIPSING 750 CAREER WINS: With a 3-0 win versus Buffalo on Jan. 22, Miami head coach Carolyn Condit posted her 750th career win. Condit owns a 759-564 career record in her 41st season as a head coach. Condit's 759 total victories are tied for eighth among active NCAA Division I coaches, and tied for 24th all-time. Owning more victories than any coach in the history of the Miami Athletic Department, Condit holds a 660-487 record in her 37th season in charge of the Red and White. Condit is the only volleyball coach in the history of the Mid-American Conference to win over 300 league matches, holding a conference mark of 363-216.

  • Senior Morgan Seaman has recorded eight assist/dig double-doubles this season, the last coming against Eastern Michigan on March 19 with 57 assists and 16 digs.
  • Four times this season senior Morgan Seaman has surpassed 50 kills. She amassed a career-high 57 assists against Eastern Michigan on March 19 and posted her second-best career total the following night vs. EMU with 55.
  • Senior Sarah Wojick has been in double figures for kills in 11 of Miami's last 14 matches. She tallied a career-high 18 kills at Akron on Jan. 29.
  • Senior Abigail Huser has been in double figures for digs in 16 of MU's 18 matches this season and reached or surpassed 20-dig mark eight times. Huser notched a career-high 38 digs on March 19 versus Eastern Michigan.
  • Freshman Maggie McCrary leads Miami with 42 blocks this season, including 38 block assists. Three times she has notched five block assists in a match: Jan. 28 at Akron, Feb. 5 at Bowling Green, Mar. 13 vs. Ohio.
  • Four times this season, a Miami player has served up four aces in a match. Sophomore Allyson Severance has recorded four service aces three times: versus Buffalo on Jan. 23, at Northern Illinois on Feb. 25 and versus Eastern Michigan on March 20. Senior Morgan Seaman also served up four aces at Akron on Jan. 29.
