BUFFALO, N.Y.—The Miami University men's basketball team fell behind early and could not recover as the RedHawks suffered an 88-64 loss at the University at Buffalo on Saturday afternoon inside Alumni Arena. Miami drops to 8-7 overall and 5-5 in Mid-American Conference play, while Buffalo moves to 8-6 overall and 6-4 in conference action.

Redshirt junior James Beck scored a career-high 24 points to go along with eight rebounds. Sophomore Dae Dae Grant tallied 18 points, sinking six treys, for the RedHawks.

HOW IT HAPPENED

A Grant triple put Miami up 3-2 in the early goings, but the Bulls started the game going 7-of-7 from the floor to build a quick 16-5 advantage by the 15:32 mark. Buffalo used an 11-0 run to push its lead to 27-11 midway through the first half.
The Bulls led by as many as 21 in the opening half and carried a 47-30 lead into the half. Beck scored 14 for the RedHawks in the first half and added five rebounds, one blocked shot, one assist and one steal. Grant added 12 points and four rebounds for the RedHawks in the opening 20 minutes.
Miami continued to chip away at the Buffalo lead, outscoring the Bulls 13-6 in the opening minutes of the second half to pull within 10 points, 53-43, by the 14:22 mark off a Grant triple. Buffalo went on an 11-2 run to further its lead to 64-45 with 11:14 to play and never looked back.

NOTES

Beck and Grant accounted for 87 percent of Miami's scoring in the opening half.
Beck shot a scorching 71-4 percent from the floor, connecting on 10-of-14 field goals.
Junior Mekhi Lairy was the other RedHawk to score in double figures with 12 points and three assists.
Redshirt junior Isaiah Coleman-Lands handed out six assists for the Red and White.

The RedHawks do not return to the court again until they host Akron in a 7 p.m. game on Friday, Feb. 12 that will be nationally-televised on ESPNU.
