The RedHawks earned a pair of weekly awards.
OXFORD, Ohio – After a strong final home weekend, a pair of Miami hockey players garnered weekly accolades from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference on Monday.
Junior forward Casey Gilling and senior goaltender Ryan Larkin were named the NCHC's Forward and Goaltender of the Week following standout performances on the ice.
Gilling, who is earning the award for the second time this season and his career, led the RedHawks with five points in a weekend sweep of Omaha. He assisted on two of MU's three goals in Friday's 3-0 win and chipped in a goal and two assists in the sweep-clinching 4-0 win on Saturday. His goal on Saturday gave him nine, which matches a career best while his 28 points this season builds on his career-best total.
Larkin stopped all 48 shots Omaha sent his way to give him a pair of shutouts in his final series at Steve 'Coach' Cady Arena. The senior stopped all 19 shots he faced on Friday and made 29 more saves on Saturday to give the Red & White their first NCHC series sweep since 2017. His three shutouts this season matches his career best.
Miami wraps up its regular season this weekend when it heads to Western Michigan.
