RedHawks Drop 71-47 Decision at Wright State

DAYTON, Ohio—In its first road game of the season, the Miami University men's basketball team (1-1) was topped at Wright State (1-1) on Saturday evening, 71-47.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
WHAT'S NEXT: Miami returns to action next week, hosting the Miami Invitational December 9-11. The RedHawks will face Western Illinois at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9 to open the invite and will close it out by playing Mount St. Joseph at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11. Both games will be aired on ESPN3 or ESPN+ and will be carried on the Miami Sports Network, powered by Pepsi, affiliates and the TuneIn app.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Miami took an early 8-7 lead off a triple by sophomore guard Dae Dae Grant. Wright State used 5-0 spurt to push ahead of the RedHawks and took a lead it would not relinquish.
- The Raiders extended their lead to double digits in the first half, but Miami was able to close the gap to six by the intermission, 32-26. A layup by senior forward Precious Ayah and a 3-pointer by redshirt junior guard Isaiah Coleman-Lands in the last two minutes of the half propelled the RedHawks.
- A layup from redshirt junior forward James Beck to open the second half further shrunk the gap to four points, 32-28. Wright State used a 10-2 second-half run to push ahead by double figures and did not look back.
- Miami was led by redshirt freshman forward Javin Etzler with nine points. Senior forward Dalonte Brown chipped in eight points and a team-leading seven rebounds. Ayah added two blocked shots, eight points and four boards.
