Isaiah Coleman-Lands helped the Miami University men's basketball team secure a 79-64 win over Mount St. Joseph on Friday night at Millett Hall. Lairy had 21 and Coleman-Lands had 19 points as the RedHawks connected on 12-of-30 three-pointers in the victory.
Miami's offense not only shot the ball well from behind the arc, the RedHawks also turned the ball over only four times all evening and outscored MSJ 17-3 in points off of turnovers.
How it Happened:
- The RedHawks began the contest 6-of-10 from behind the arc to open a 25-13 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game.Â
- Back-to-back triples from Mount St. Joseph cut the Red and White's lead to 27-19, but Miami went on to score nine points in the last five minutes of the half to post a 40-28 lead. Â Â
- Coleman-Lands' three-pointer from the left wing gave Miami its largest lead of the night at 60-43 with just over 11 minutes to play.Â
- MSJ answered with a 15-2 run over the next six minutes to shrink Miami's lead to a slim 62-58 advantage with 4:54 to play.
- Coleman-Lands added a pair of free throws and a triple from the baseline to push Miami's lead back to 10 at 72-62 with 2:21 to play. Lairy added his third three-pointer of the game as Miami was up comfortably 75-62 with 1:36 to go.
Game Notes:
- Lairy and Coleman-Lands each recorded career-highs in the win. Lairy matched his career-high with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting and Coleman-Lands had 19 points to go along with nine points from behind the arc.
- Ten different RedHawks scored on Friday night.
- Redshirt junior forward James Beck matched a career-high with 10 rebounds. Beck added six points.
- Miami finished the game 12-of-30 from behind the arc.
- The RedHawks had just four turnovers on the night, while forcing 10 and outscored MSJ 17-3 in points off of turnovers.
