OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University men's basketball team captured a season-opening win on Wednesday afternoon, as the RedHawks took down the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks by a score of 81-67 at Millett Hall.
Miami had three players register double-digit point totals with Miami grabbing the lead very early in the game and never relinquishing it again.
MIAMI GAME NOTES:
- Sophomore Dae Dae Grant was solid for the RedHawks, putting up 11 points in the first half alone, and a career-high 21 points, thanks in large part to a 8-for-15 performance from the field. Grant also added four assists and three rebounds in 32 minutes of action.
- Redshirt junior James Beck also started his season off strong, and posted a double-double in first career outing at Miami, putting up 14 points and 10 rebounds, including a 6-for-10 performance from the free-throw line.
- Junior guard Mekhi Lairy was the third player to hit double-digit point totals in the matchup, posting 14 points. Lairy was on fire on the free-throw line, going 10-for-10 on the free throw line to grab crucial points in the win for the RedHawks. He also tied a career high with four steals.
- Redshirt freshman Javin Etzler posted some solid numbers, including eight points off the bench in his 12 minutes of play. Etzler also went 2-for-2 on triples.
- The game saw Miami debuts for a number of players who contributed to the win in their own regard, including: Beck and freshman center Jackson Ames.
- Miami moves to 76-40 in season openers and 93-23 in home openers.

- Miami will stay right at home for their next contest, as the RedHawks host Defiance College on Monday, November 30 at 5:30 p.m. The game is scheduled to be streamed on ESPN3, along with a radio broadcast by the Miami Radio Network.
