Senior takes on the French Cup and collegiate heads to Synchro Illinois this weekend.
OXFORD, Ohio – This weekend is shaping up as a busy one for Miami synchronized skating as both the senior and collegiate programs are in action across the globe.
The RedHawks' senior team resumes their international swing with a two-day competition in Rouen, France at the French Cup on Friday while the collegiate program heads to Synchro Illinois on Saturday.
Miami's senior team has been in Europe for two weeks and is coming off a season-best score at the Leon Lurje Trophy in Gothenburg, Sweden last weekend. MU posted its top scores in both the short program (65.3) and free skate (121.68) to conclude the outing in seventh place (tops among American programs) with a combined total of 186.98. That score was over five points higher than its previous best this season and almost two points higher than its performance at that competition a year ago.
On the collegiate side, the RedHawks dominated at the Midwestern Championships in Wichita, Kan., two weeks ago. Miami notched a score of 100.32, a score that dwarfed every score it posted last season save for its national championship winning 104.68 last February.
The senior team competes in its short program on Friday at 8 p.m. local time (2 p.m. ET) and its free skate occurs at the same time on Saturday. Miami's collegiate team competes in its free skate on Saturday at 6:35 p.m. CT (7:35 p.m. ET). Results and a recap will be available on MiamiRedHawks.com following the competitions.
