OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University volleyball team hosts Dayton for a midweek match on Tuesday. First serve is at 7 p.m. and it will air live on ESPN+.
The RedHawks are coming off a 2-1 week at their home tournament, the Miami Best Western Sycamore Inn Invitational. After victories over Virginia Tech and South Carolina Upstate to open play, Miami took the first set against Northwestern in the championship match, but ultimately dropped a 1-3 decision to the Wildcats. Senior middle hitter
Margaret Payne and junior setter
Morgan Seaman were each named to the All-Tournament Team for the Red and White.
Dayton might have gone 0-3 at the Louisville Cardinal Classic over the past weekend, but made a very good accounting of itself against an exceedingly difficult schedule. The Flyers opened with a five-set defeat against Texas A&M. They then took the first two sets against 10th-ranked Florida before ultimately falling in five. Dayton closed the weekend with a 0-3 loss to the host, 25th-ranked Louisville. The Flyers were led by redshirt sophomore outside hitter Jamie Peterson. After missing the previous two seasons, she returned in a big way. Peterson had 50 kills in three matches, an average of 3.85 per set. She also had 32 digs, an average of 2.46 per set.
This weekend, Miami will participate in the Auto Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Michigan. On Friday, the RedHawks will take on 19th-ranked Tennessee at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, Miami faces Indiana State at noon.
