OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University volleyball team is home for a pair of matches on Family Weekend. On Friday, the RedHawks host Eastern Michigan for a 7 p.m. match. That contest will air live on MiamiRedHawks.com for those who have a subscription. On Sunday, Miami welcomes Central Michigan to Millett Hall for a 2:30 p.m. matinee. That match will air live on ESPN+. It is also Cancer Awareness Weekend, and the team will be collecting items for wellness baskets on the concourse.
SETTERS HONORED FOR PERFORMANCE: Miami's 6-2 setter combo of junior
Morgan Seaman and sophomore
Louise Comerford were honored as the MAC East Division Setters of the Week after leading the RedHawks to two wins this past weekend. They each finished with 46 assists on the weekend. Their combined total of 92 assists averaged 11.50 assists per set. They helped Miami's offense post a .228 attack percentage in the two matches.
PAYNE NEARING 800 KILLS:Â Senior middle hitter
Margaret Payne put down 21 kills and hit .400 in Miami's two wins last week. She was honored by being named the MAC East Division Offensive Player of the Week. Payne now has 783 career kills, needing only 17 more to hit 800 for her career.

ABOUT EASTERN MICHIGAN: Under a new coaching staff this season, the defending MAC Tournament Champion Eagles are 7-11 overall and 2-4 in the MAC. Last weekend, they defeated Toledo, 3-1, on Friday and then dropped a five-set heartbreaker to Ball State on Saturday. Eastern Michigan gets the bulk of its offense from two players. Senior middle blocker Cassie Haut has 222 kills, an average of 3.26 kills per set. Right behind her is junior outside hitter Frankie Strefling. She has 215 kills, an average of 3.16 kills per set.
SERIES WITH THE EAGLES: Miami holds a 41-15 lead in the all-time series with Eastern Michigan. Last season, the teams split a pair of dramatic five-set matches. On Oct. 12, 2018 in Ypsilanti, the RedHawks raced to a 25-9 win in set one. However each successive set was a battle with the Eagles eventually holding a 14-12 lead in set five. Miami fought back to tie the score and eventually earned the 3-2 victory with an 18-16 win (25-9, 18-25, 16-25, 25-23, 18-16).
Margaret Payne led the 'Hawks with 13 kills and five blocks. In the MAC Tournament Championship match in Oxford on Nov. 18, 2018, Miami took a 2-1 lead in the match, but EMU grabbed the final two as Miami fell, 2-3 (25-19, 21-25, 25-19, 15-25, 8-15). Payne had 14 kills and five blocks in that contest.
ABOUT CENTRAL MICHIGAN: Last season, a very young Chippewa team was 4-12 in the MAC and won only seven matches overall. That experience proved to be extremely beneficial as they have jumped all the way to the top of the league at 16-2 overall and 6-0 in the MAC. They have won their past 11 matches in a row going into a Friday contest at Bowling Green. Last weekend they took a 3-1 victory over Ball State on Friday and a 3-2 win over Toledo on Saturday. Central Michigan is led by junior outside hitter Kalina Smith. She has 220 kills, an average of 3.49 kills per set.
SERIES WITH THE CHIPPEWAS: Miami holds a 35-25-1 lead in the all-time series with Central Michigan. The RedHawks have won the last five in the series, including a 3-1 (28-25, 25-16, 20-25, 25-20) victory in their last meeting on Oct. 13, 2018 in Mt. Pleasant.
Margaret Payne had a .452 attack percentage, putting down 17 kills to lead Miami to the win.
